Prominent among the social events of the late week was the luncheon and program given Saturday Satur-day evening in the Third ward amusement hall by the local Kiwanis Ki-wanis club in celebration of the seventh anniversary of its organization. organi-zation. President John R. Anderson Ander-son presided. S. L. Mendenhall was toastmaster. During the program pro-gram seven large tapers burned on the piano. E. S. Hinckley of Provo was the principle speaker. Other numbers were music by the Peerless Peer-less quartet and a reading given by Mrs. E. E. Knudsen, composed by M. E. Crandall; short talk, William Bailey of Nephi, lieutenant-governor of the southern division. In conclusion con-clusion each lady present was presented pre-sented with a carnation. More than ; one hundred Kiwanis members and partners were in attendance. ' A pleasant afternoon was spent Saturday by members of the La- i dies' Literary club when they were entertained at the home of Mrs. Will Grooms. An attractive color scheme suggestive of Valentine was carried out in room decorations, decora-tions, tall red tapers and red carnations car-nations beingr employed. Favors also carried the same idea. A dainty dain-ty luncheon was server early in afternoon, after which Mrs. Mae Huntington gave in an especially interesting manner a review of the book, "The Mother" by Grazia De-ledda; De-ledda; also Mrs. Jessee Dalton furnished fur-nished a vocal solo. Mrs. Eliza Thorn attended a meeting of the board members of the county Daughters of the Pioneers Pio-neers in Provo Saturday. A number of friends were pleasantly pleas-antly ente'rtained Monday evening at the home of Miss Virginia Packard. Pack-ard. Progressive games were featured fea-tured during the evening, the high score prize for which was awarded award-ed to Mrs. Carrie Trippe. Beck in Provo. Relatives of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Salisbury pleasantly surprised them at their home Monday evening. eve-ning. Games, music and social cM: were the main diversions.
