Show Highway built by local firm wins high honor A scenic highway on which contractors Whiting and Haymond Hay-mond of Springville worked approximately a year and a half, completing it in July of this year, has won the 1962 Scenic Highway Award. The announcement was made by Parade Publications Inc., of New York City, N. Y., which makes the annual award. The Utah Highway 24, in Wayne County, near Fruita, was selected for the honors from' 200 entries with photos and details of construction, on the most impressive highway spots across America. Judges based their decision not only on scenic splendor but on high principles of land use, planning, construction and design, it was stated. No matter what you may think, Congress is a great institution. I Lions Sterling Price will address the Springville Lions and their ladies this evening (Wednesday) (Wednes-day) at a pre- Thanksgiving day dinner meeting, at Melody Inn. The meeting is planned for 7:30 p.m. In charge of arrangements is a cammittee composed of Paul Haymont, Kirk Snow, Jay Strong, Tom Smith and Ron Thorpe. We observe that the post-office post-office delivers tax-due notices on time. |
