J : 5 The above car belonging to a Salt I,uk resident was found in tlui fields west of Springvillo Tuesday as mute evidence of what lias been described by officers as an outlet for demented thinking. A 1954 Chev., in excellent condition when it was stolen, the car is now a total wreck rear tires gone, back seat torn apart, the battery battered, air cleaner taken from carburetor, every glass window shattered, horn gone, cap off gas tank, filler spout jammed and someone had jumped on the hood and top of the car bending it in places. Members of the Utah county sheriff's office are in-vestigating. Meanwhile the car is housed at the rear of the Springville Garage. Scout troop takes honors Boy Scout Troop 121, spon-sored by the Springville Com-munity Church, has been awarded a trophy as "honor troop" of the Hobble Creek district for the past year. Presentation of the trophy, an Indian drum inscribed with the citation, was made to the troop Tuesday night by Robert Frazier, Hobble Creek Dist-rict Commissioner. Scoutmas-ter of the unit is Otto B. Col-ling- s. In making the presentation. Mr. Frazier pointed out that Troop 121 showed a record high advancement of 84.3 per cent for 1960, according to re-cords of the Utah National Parks Council. Of the troop members, 95 per cent hold the rank of First Class or above. The troop also qualified for the National Camping award by having a record 75 per cent of the boys spend 10 or more days and nights camping. Other items on which the troops were judged included achievement of goals, subscrip-tion to Boys Life, prompt re-gistration, and conservation projects. Mr. Frazier said that Troop 121 had excellent con-servation projects including the planting of trees and con-struction of check dams. New red apple being grown According to horticulturists at Utah State University, it has been within the last three or four years that Triple Red apple trees have been able to be purchased. These mutations have come from the original red delicious which give more color to the fruit. The varieties (sports) re-commended are Royal Red, Red King and the Starkrim-so- n which during the past year have appeared to be the most satisfactory. New varieties are continual-ly being tested which will re-sult in those best adapted to our area. Honesty isn't any policy at all; it's a state of mind or it isn't honesty. Eugene e.
