Show suffocated by sulphur two men were hunting ap tha river they saw in a small gulch in grizzly bear burled purled up as if asleep being mei af pf experience they climbed up the side of the gulch and when out of reach hurled rocks at the huge animal to their surprise it never moved although hit quite frequently presently it dawned upon them that the grizzly was dead and closer examination revealed such to be a fact there was no wound on its body and while the men were pondering over thi a singular circumstance they became conscious of a pence of suffocation from strong sulphur fumes arising from several holes in the ground near by at some risk they investigated further and found tasa skeletons of four other bears an elk squirrels and other small game all evidently asphyxiated asphyxia ted by the noxious gases the gulch made a natural basin in which the gas settled and as it is heavy and lies near the surface quadrupeds fall ansy victim in this deathtrap death trap esven the hunters suffered from severe headache and nausea after their brief stay golden days |
