So., Springville, is participating participat-ing with other personnel from the 3d Armored Division in a field training exercise in Graf-enwohr, Graf-enwohr, Germany. The six-week exercise is scheduled to be concluded con-cluded Oct. 1. Some 15,000 troops and more than 1,000 tanks and armored personnel carriers will maneuver maneu-ver over the rough and hilly terrain of the training area. This exercise is typical of the constant training conducted to determine that all units in the NATO shield of defense in Europe Eur-ope maintain a high state of combat efficiency. Specialist Whitney, a fire team leader in Company D of the division's 36th Infantry in Kirch Gons, entered the : Army in June 1958, completed v basic training at Fort Hood, Tex., and arrived overseas the following fol-lowing November. He is a 1956 graduate of Springville High School and was employed by Whiting Construction Con-struction Co., Salt Lake City, before entering the Army. |
