Garden club to plant ; picnic area Suggestions on planting and 'landscaping back yards were presented in talks and slides at the Art City Garden club meeting Monday evening, di-rected by President Ruth Boy-e- r. Preston Hughes and Stanl-ey Sorensen were speakers. The club decided to take over a project of landscaping and otherwise converting the Southeast corner of the park west of Brookside, into a pic-nic area. Representatives from the club had met with the City Council to obtain permission for the project. Mrs. Ruth Boyer, club presi-dent, was ,in charge of the ii meeting at which general plans swere also discussed for a rose festival this fall. Church holds Smomasbord Friday, 13th The Springville Presbyterian Community church is sponsor-ing an annual Smorgasbord Friday, May 13 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church and invites the public to attend. ' :V ; U A m miaiftiMi il Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Kindred, nee Miss Darlene Castleton are making their home in Salt Lake City following a re-cent temple wedding and church reception. Darlene Castleton takes vows with Boyd Kindred in Temple Esther Weight and Alta Tay-lor. Girls with whom Darlene has been working at the Spring-ville Bank served refreshments. A beautiful wedding cake and an attractive color theme emphasized in floral arrange-ments, added to the attractive church reception. Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Kindred, recently home from a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., are now at home at 68 East First No., Salt Lake City. She is the former Miss Darlene Castleton. They were married Friday April 2?, in the Salt Lake Temple and the same evening were honored with a reception in the new Kolob Stake House. The "bride was lovely in a wedding gown of traditional white satin and lace, with fing-er- tip veil arranged to a crown of seed pearls and se-quins. She carried a bridal bouquet of pink carnations centered with an orchid from which fell satin streamers. Her attendants were her sisters: Mrs. Joan Sundblomj as matron of honor and Loree and Elaine Castleton, also Janice Beardall and Maria W. Wild, bridesmaids. They were attired in match-ing rose taffetta gowns and held nosegay bouquets in matching shades. Kent Kindred was best man for his brother. Also receiving guests thru-o- ut the evening were parents of the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castleton and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kindred. Greeting guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. Allan Dan-ielso- n. Wayne Wilde and Allan Sumsion were ushers. ' Registering guests were La-vo- n Castleton and Colleen Cas-tleton. Club hears story of war experience Mrs. Petronella Boot,'j a na-tive of the Netherlands told of her experiences with the underground during the Hitler regime before members of the Sociables and their guests on Thursday evening. Mrs. Joyce Simpson was hostess. The guest speaker, a convert to the LDS church, described the suffering of her people during the war and told of the sickening experience of her husband in the concentration camps; of their arrival, in Am-erica and of her husband's ac-cidental death in this country. She is the mother of five chil-dren. Special guests at the meet-ing which concluded with lunch, were: Hazel Walker, Flora Bjarnson, Lucille Laney, Rosalee Kirkwood, Eva Jane Bjarnson, Aileen Bjarnson, Janice Spender, Peggy Dallin, Val Gividen, Blanch Nielson, Marian Bjarnson, Mary Beck-ett. " Hafen-Dalli- n Club in final meeting Francis Magleby of the BYU addressed a large group at the Hafen-Dalli- n Art Study club meeting Thursday in the final tour of the April Art Exhibit. Glen Turner, Stanley Burn-ingha-m and Richard Gunn were speakers at previous meetings each giving new ave-nues, new methods and new ideas for better art apprecia-tion. Grateful for the time spent, the club presented each with a token of appreciation. Members are being entertain-ed today at a luncheon at Riverside Country club at Provo. Election of officers and a revue of a play will high-light the occasion, directed by Mrs. Paul Thorn, president. April wedding ceremony unites Mapleton man, California girl Announcement is made this week of the marriage of Miss Jean Blackett of Westminster, Calif., and Danny Rex Gull of Mapleton which took place April 11, with Mayor Welby Warren officiating. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds were honored with a wedding supper at Barts for members of the wedding party and close friends. The table held a beautiful wedding cake. ' The bride wore a gown of nylon net and lace. Tiers of ruffled net formed the floor-lengt- h skirt and the fitted bo-dice was of lace. Her lace-edge- d veil fell from a tiara of seed pearls and sequins. She carried a bouquet of roses and carnations. Her only attendants were her sister, Marilyn Blackett and Annalee Dowley. Best man to the groom was Ronnie K. Bird of Mapleton. A personal shower honored the bride before her marriage and she was also given a bridal shower at the Mapleton church with Mrs. John Ray Parry as hostess. Republicans meet A large delegation of Spring-ville Republicans, state dele-gates and other citizens rep-resenting every district within the precinct, attended a state convention Saturday at which delegates to the national con-tention and presidential elec-tors were chosen, and officers 'of the state organization elect-ed. Harrison Conover of Spring-ville was elected an alternate. The convention is in Chicago fcjin July. Nearly a thousand people at-tended the convention includi-ng a number of students as special invited guests. Talks were made by the vari-ous candidates for governor as well as by candidates for I other offices. LaConda Club at luncheon Mrs. Paul A. Thorn was hostess to members of the LaConda club Thursday at Riverside Country club with Mrs. Jim Thorn and Mrs. Ro-bert Thorn as guests. A Fashion Show presented by a Provo store during the luncheon was an enjoyable feature. Progressive games were enjoyed with prizes go-ing to Mrs. Frank Morgan and Mrs. Jim Thorn.
