The warning came in connec- fion with the distribution of 100,000 copies of a leaflet the purpose of which is to explain in pictures and words how children can avoid becoming possible victims of a molest or assault by a sex degenerate. For example, the leaflet warns children, "Never play alone in alleys or empty buildings," build-ings," and "Never accept rides from persons whom you do not know." Children also are told, "Always "Al-ways write down the license number of any suspicious car." Dr. E. Allen Bateman, state superintendent of public instruction, in-struction, issued a special notice no-tice to parents in the leaflet. He said, "Throughout the country coun-try the police are becoming increasingly in-creasingly alarmed at the rising ris-ing rate of cases involving the molesting of small children. This vicious type of crime can happen anywhere and at anytime. any-time. You can help protect your children by teaching them the fundamental rules in this leaflet." Distribution of the leaflets includes most of Utah's school districts. |
