Show and a grand one of the most elegant weddings and largest receptions over participated in at prove was that at the residence of sir and mrs R S hines last evening in honor of the wedding of their daughter anna to charles hedquist the young couple have been very popular in society circles and with their intimate friends and relatives and friends of the family the reception numbered a hundred and fifty the decorations in boner of the oc causion were very pretty on the lawn burned numerous japanese lanterns while on a platform at the west side of the entrance to the palatial residence sat the darton orchestra discoursing popular airs the spacious rooms of the modern house were all thrown into one and were sweetly scented with roses the decorations were very tasty with an arch of smilax and roses over the corner window of the parlor and graceful festoons fes of evergreens ever greens and small white flowers falling gracefully from the chandelier to the several corners the dining room was devot d to two long tables very prettily decorated with flowers and laid with seasonable fruits and cake the dwelling thus presented a most inviting appearance and was much admired by the guests who made themselves at home in the rooms both upstairs and down stairs and on the lawn the hos and hostess were everywhere in evidence with young ladies and gentlemen to wait on the guests with wraps etc and nothing was left undone for the comfort of the large assemblage sem blage of merry people at a little after 8 the wedding ceremony took place and a most impressive ceremony it was dr T 0 iliff officiated and at a given signal miss noon commenced playing a wed ding march on the piano and the bridal party appeared on the stairway stair way with a sweat little flower girl miss birdie parker strewing their way with flowers the bride looked lovely in fine white Or gandie over rich white silk present ing a lovely affect and was led under the arch of smilax and roses by her father then came the groom and the bridesmaids miss hattie hines sister of the hedquist sister of the groom and miss iliff of salt lake with the groomsmen charles ward jos wilkins and john C graham jr when the bridal party bad taken position dr iliff stepped forward and while the orchestra outside was playing softly sue is good enough for me the impressive and quite lengthy methodist episcopal marriage ceremony was performed amid tears and smiles the young couple were congratulated first by the bridesmaids and groomsmen and then by the parents of the contracting parties followed by the general assembly banqueting dancing on the lawn singing and viewing presents then formed the pastime of the evening the banquet was complete the menu consisting of several kinds of cold meats coffee and tea strawberries and ice cream oranges and ba and several varieties of no wines were served dr iliff aced as master of ceremony ind his tact in seeing that every one was served with what he wanted at the table the wedding presents it was generally conceded were about the most extensive beautiful and costly ever displayed in provo some came from illinois montana and salt lake and a most choice variety by friends in provo may the young couple live long and be happy |
