Show FROM OUR dllF FILES SIT 30 Years Ago The Springville Opera House, one of the largest structures in the city was completely destroyed des-troyed by fire Wednesday afternoon, af-ternoon, August 28. The two-story two-story building erected in 1905, at a cost of $35,000 was completely com-pletely demolished. Exact cause of the blaze is not known but small boys were seen coming out of the building at noon. Insurance In-surance of $5000 will probably cover the loss. The building was erected by a group of Springville citizens including H. T. Reynolds, S. L. Menden-hall, Menden-hall, R. L. Bird, T. R. Kelly, Ed Childs, G. W. Mendenhall, I. S. Brown, James E. Hall and L. D. Deal. They operated the building as a opera house and theater for a number of years but the project was never successful suc-cessful . . . Extensive plans are going forward for a community com-munity fair to be held Sept. 20, 21, according to Chairman Selvoy J. Boyer . . . Funeral services for Billie Ray Gam-mell, Gam-mell, 14-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gammell who died in Bingham Sunday, were held in the Fourth ward Sunday Sun-day . . . Helen Clark has gone to Des Moines, Iowa, where she will teach school. 25 Years Ago Funeral services for Frank McKenzie 68, who died at his home after a two-weeks illness will be held Monday in the Third ward . . . Due to a number num-ber of unpaid bills and extra expenses, the city has decided to raise the tax levy 4 mills bringing it up to 18.30 mills, according to Wm. Bringhurst, recorder . . . Fire of undetermined undeter-mined origin burned a barn and about 30 bales of straw at the Joseph Wheeler farm Friday morning, resulting in $1000 damage . . . Three carloads of cattle have been shipped from Springville through the government drough relief plan . . .
