Show Michael Barclay is Dead An honest mans the noblest work of GodPope Our esteemed fellow townsman Michel Mich-el Barclay was suddenly called to thereat the-reat beyond on Thursday the 12th at bout 2 p m at the residence of his son in law Brigham Gardner of the First ward Brother Barclay was seated seat-ed in his chair when his heart suddenly ceased to beat and almost before any of those present were aware of It life vas extinct i Brother Barclay was born August 29 1839 in a small village called Lcsble Fifeshire Scotland He was baptized into the Mormon church in August 1878 and emigrated to Utah soon after He lived in Provo a number of years until he lost his wife While in Provo he was stricken with paralysis in one side which made him a cripple the rest of his life Funeral services were held over his remains at the First ward meetinghouse meeting-house last Sunday Bishop R W Me Ke1 presiding The choir sang 0 My Father Invocation by Daniel King The choir sang Wanted on the Other Side The first speaker was Wm Rawlins of Provo who spoke of the early life of the deceased in Provo his struggles for a liviihood Elder Rawlins was followed by Geo W McKinley Mc-Kinley of Idaho and Elias Lewis and Allan Adamson of this city all of whom bore testimony to the honorable life antI character of the deceased Brother Barclay was ft member of the High Priest Quorum of this city having been ordained to that office in May 1901 For the last two years he was correspondent corres-pondent for the Deseret News The writer of this knew him to be a genial intelligent gentleman He leaves two sons three daughters and seven grand children to mourn his loss The choir lang in closing Farewell All Earthly Honors Benediction by Henry Tilly The floral tributes were very beautiful The remains were taken to Provo and buried by the graVe of his wife who died some years ago GAH |
