Show LETTER FROM DAVID H JAMES Contray City W Va Nov 2 1907 Drar Mr Editor of Tho Press While reading some time ago In ono of our Utah papers It Impressed mo very much that I had a home In that noted spot that all people seem to talk so much about and among those horrid hor-rid people that live there In Utah I which are commonly known as Mormons Mor-mons I feel to thank my God that I can say that I am numbered arnonj Uioso i people and have been called to I labur In the stale of West Virginia III that great cause Afler read ug I then decided that perhaps an hallo from West Virginia might be InterestIng Interest-Ing I have been away from my home and friends eighteen months I have visited twenty states In the Union I have seen some good country and more bad than good also met many kinds of people seeing different customs cus-toms with each nationality and in each state also saw many dings that are grand In some of the biggest cities cit-ies In tho east although It Interests me more In looking over the country and then casting my thoughts back to my native home state and especially especial-ly to the valley which Is called Utah that Is surrounded with majestic mountains and lofty peaks and In thb valley where its crystal waters How from those mountains that is as pure as the summer sun which Is for the beautifying the valley and moistening Its fertile fields which blossom as arose a-rose which Isa speaks about Tho wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad ftr them and the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rosen rose-n shall blossom abundantly and re mice even with joy and singing the glory of Bebanon shall bo given unto It the excellency of Cannel and Sharon they shall see the glory of the Lord soil life excellency of our God If we will all pay a visit to different parts of our noble country and also other countries and then when we return re-turn to our mountain home In that val Icy and In the spring or summer go to lie mouth ef Spanish Fork canyon and BOO If that Isnt the snot that Isa was speakln about blossoming as a rose The cause that I am now representIng represent-Ing and working for I appreciate very much there Is no greater than It of course it Is work but that Is all and I guess you all know what that is jut maybe in different ways from this I feel as though it Is my duty to extend tend my thanks to the Third Ward Relic Re-lic Society for a small purse which was received from them some time ago which amount was 10 The people in this part as a rule are quite backward In seine things and some things are pretty good hue education Is needed In some parts very had and If there could bo someway some-way of getting to them it would bp a blessIng It Is a very rough hilly country and they havent the chances for schooling It Is a grand coal mInIng mIn-Ing district but for farming It is noth Inv like what we have In the west and It Is very good indeed for timber I have learned to love those beautiful scenes In these hills but I can not say I would like to make my home here Although there Is many a story told that is false of our people In this part it Is getting almost a thing of the past by all good honesthearted men that are looking for the truth thhere Is many a story told but when the true ono comes It always tells the tale I enjoy rny labors and reading tho papers from home But If I dont close you will all think I am going to preach I trust you are all happy as your fellow townsman In West Virginia Vir-ginia DAVID H JgttES m |
