Show TELEGRAPH OPERATORS STRIKE Chicago Men Walk Out In Sympathy With Los Angeles Brethren Chicago The telegraph operators employed by tho Western Union in Chicago went on strike Thursday night at 12 oclock Tho trouble was precipitated by the Los Angeles strike which was begun two days previous The local executive board of tho Commercial Telegraphers union met and passed resolutions requesting the men to refuse to work with nonunion operators employed In Los Angeles When the men were notified of this stop all operators employed In tho overland division of tho local ofllco refused re-fused to work longer with the nonunion non-union men on the other end of the wire After tho 200 men and four women quit work they gather in front of the building where tho telegraph office is located and for half an hour filled tho air with cheers and whistles but the police were given no cause for tho exercise ex-ercise of their authority |
