Show DESERT LAND SELECTIONS All Lists are to be Carefully Examined Ex-amined and the Lands Withheld from Other Disposition Washington Aug 10 1895 Acting Secretary of the Interior Sims today approved the recommendation of the Commissioner of the General Land Ofllce that certain changes be made in the regulations concerning the selection of desert lands by certain States which change Is suggested by a matter brought out In consultation with the State Engineers of Idaho and Wyoming Under the seventh paragraph para-graph of the Instructions the local of llcers are required to carefully and critically examine all lists of lands selected se-lected by the States under the desert land act and when so examined and found correct they are required to post the selection In Ink on the tract books The purpose of the proposed change In the Instructions Is to explain the effect ef-fect of the requirements of the circular so that all may understand that tha filing of the map pint and list of lands will make a temporary segregation of the lands By the proposed change tho following paragraph Is added to section 1 Upon the filing of such map and accompanying accompany-ing Plan of Irrigation the lands embraced em-braced therein will be withheld from other disposition until final action Is had thereon by the Secretary of the Interior In-terior If such final action be disapproval disap-proval of the map and the plans the lands selected shall without further order or-der be subject to disposition as If sail reservation had never been made and the local olllcera will make tho appropriate appro-priate notations on the tract books and plat book opposite those previously made In accordance with the requirements require-ments of paragraph 7 CONDITION OF IDAHO BANKS Comptroller Eckels today gave out an abstract of the reports of the condition condi-tion on July 11th of the twelve nation al banks of Idaho It shows that We total resources at that date were 3110 I 168 of which the loans and discounts I were 1297628 and tho reserve In banks and with reserve agents 417369 oC iVlilcl JH1377 PS In gold Of the lla blU s tin c pltnl stuck was 775000 t1 > uri > ljs and undivided profits 40V B43 arch ueposlts 1079879 The average aver-age reserve held was 2555 per cent The actlnu Flrnl Assistant Postmaster Postmas-ter iLiieml today made an allowance to date from July 1st to the postmaster at Ogden Utah bf 4200 to pay the increased In-creased salaries of clerks who have been promoted and for the employment of additional clerks during the curron fiscal year The French artist Mme Rojano love children and Is delighted with all things domestic s |
