| Show SAFE BLOWN CT at the provo TJ P depot this morning FIFTEEN DOLLARS cach and anny checks taken bui glar wot rei apprehended the sequel to the burglary of ithe R G W bouse in tha city on wednesday morning and the jakine froni that place of a brace and other tools that would be for a bur gular or safe blower ie that the agents safe at tha U P depot waa blown open last night or early this morning the burglars entered the by the door leading into the waiting rood which ia always left unlocked day anil night and forcad the door leading into the office open with a chisel and bar marks of these implements are on the door and sill now the safe is supposed to have claimed the attention of the burglars first they dri led a inch hole in the combination lock near tho dial and then used dynamite with which to blow the safe door off fhe explosion was of such force that the door was blown from its binges alighting across the room a distance of about fifteen feet with such force aa to break two wooden braces that ed a shelf and knocking the etoye down rue safe door flew into three pieces the burglars then pried out the iron box that waa in the safe and w libb waa supposed to contain tha money the drawer under the dickt t window was wrenched off with a bar aad the contents taken consisting of ticket etc the men got about 15 cash and a let of checks which the iron box that had been forced open were this morning at 10 behind the oil house juat south of the depot it waa found by a mr rice of the P and frank loeleta Lo elesa with it was found checks tickets con pona etc which the burglars found would be no good to them brown with deputies and marshal sharp were soon on the track of the men and haye locae very good clues deputy wren and marshal sharp went to having received word that the men ana peeled i two white men and a were badea that r ana a ario in tho depot which they opened and exchanged for their old ones lenain their own in the depot the officers cert have the brace and a handar chiafos rather a napkin frith a rock tied in it which they found lying on the floor of the agenda room on one corner of the napkin la marked in indelible the letters E J tf toe fringe part of the whole proceeding is bat no ona heard tha when the explosion which open the sale occurred the P does not employ a night watchman and the for the R i W just across the not hear the noise neither did bome UP employ ca sleep in in a car jut behind the careb the explosion must have occurred shortly after 3 this more ing for at that hoar the b 11 from the U P phone rang in the central office awaking mr martin who arose and answered what he took to be a call there was no response and be retired it is thought that the concussion at be depot caused the telephone ball to ring at 2 p m word waa received from springville Spring ville that three men thought to be the burglars have be sn arrested there two of them were recently released from the utah county jail |
