Show WEBER COUNTY ROAD BIOS IRE OPEfJEO Twelve Miles of Highway to Be Resurfaced With Tarvia and Concrete. Tho state road commission yesterday met long enough to open bids for the resurfacing re-surfacing of twelve miles of Tarvia road in "Weber county with bituminous concrete. con-crete. The total cost to the state under the low bid, that of Gibbons & Redd, would be SIM?, 513 if one type of road is built and $i!37.7l3 with another. The specifications require that the present Tarvia is to be left in place, except ex-cept at the edges. where It will be trimmed until at least a two-inch vertical verti-cal surface is exposed. The road will be widened to a full eighteen feet by the addition ad-dition to the Tarvia base at cacii side of either an awphaltic concrete base or a coal tar concrete. On top of this eighteen -foot strip will be spread two inches of bltulUliie concrete. The shoulders shoul-ders will be protected by an edging of two-by-six-inch stuff, supported by two-by-four-inch stakes driven into the ground two feet. Outside of this, on each shoulder, will be four feet of gravel, making the full width of the roadbed twenty-six feet. The Tarvia road to be so improved const st-s of about two miles from the south city limits of Ogden to Roy, four miles from the north city limits to I'tah Hot Springs, and six miles up Ogden canyon. Hurson, district road engineer, to direct di-rect traffic between Provo and Salt Lake away from the stretch of road between Midvale and Lehl, which is now the scene of considerable hard surfacing construction. construc-tion. The detour road turns west at Midvale and rejoins, the state road one mile north of L.ehi. Considerable complaint has arisen by travelers in the past few weeks because of the closing of the through state road without sufficiently warning travelers of the action taken. The detour is about five miles longer than the direct route. The state road commission has been advised ad-vised by the bureau of public roads, through its Ogden office, that the bureau has decided to read vert ise the construction construc-tion of the I.ogan-Garden City road, on which the only bidder, the Chris tensen Construction company, presented figures that were not within the estimate of funds allowed.
