Show MINES cropping air traced into utah count 3 mr bichard mackintosh who on monday went out to camp ffoyd district in company with a number of other salt lake gentlemen returned last evening on account of sickness in his family mr mackintosh is of the opinion that the point in the district that just now is attracting tho most attention is on the utah county side to bo more definite he believes that the values in the mercur district have been excelled by some recent discoveries on the cast bide of the mountain and to the north and west of the town of cedar fort it appears that essays assays on samples taken from the new discovery give greater values than the average of any of the best mines on the west side of the mountain when mr mackintosh left there there was quite a bumbar of pros at work on the east side and it seems that the values are being opened up there is nothing unreasonable in the report as it comes for the reason that if the theory of veins in contact is correct as compared with the sedimentary theory there is no reason to be advanced against some of the numerous faults in the mercur vein having forced the ore values through the range where they would crop out on the east side again if the values are of sedimentary origin there has been no authority bold enough as yet to state at what period they were whether prior or subsequent to the upheaval and displacement that is now in evidence and if it was a case of natural precipitation before the disturbance there could be no possible argument advanced against the cropping out of the vein on the east side of tha range on the west side of which such remarkable values have been discovered salt lake tribune |
