Wyoming Consolidated OU company, with extensive holdings in the Bridger-Butte Bridger-Butte dome of Uinta county, Wyo., announced an-nounced yesterday through Secretary J. F. Bowman that drilling at its Wyoming Wyo-ming well had been resumed. A few days ago Spanish influenza seized some of the crew and caused a temporary suspension sus-pension of operations, but all of those afflicted have recovered and drilling is again in progress. This well is now down, 2000 feet, said Mr. Bowman, with favorable showings of both oil and gas. It is believed that from 500 to 700 feet more of drilling will be required before the desired depth is attained and the secretary Is confident that the well will be completed and numbered num-bered among the active producers before the end of the current year. Mr. Bowman added that the Wyoming Consolidated had recently acquired control con-trol 0f between 10,000 and 11,000 acres of oil land In what Is popularly known as the "Cisco" anticline, nine miles out of Thompson's Springs. He said that a rig had been Installed there and that drilling had been started on October 10, but up to date no reports of the progress made had been received. The "Cisco" anticline, said Mr. Bowman, is eighteen 7niles long and from a. half-mile to a mile and one-half wide. It has three strata of saturated oil sands, all within a depth of 1000 feet that break over the anticline and can be plainly followed along the escarpment. Reports of both government geologists and experts who have examined the ground on behalf of the company are stated to be highly favorable. |
