Show CONGRESSMAN IS INFLUENZA VICTIM ST. LOUIS, Oct. 16. Congressman Jacob Meeker died here this morning of Spanish influenza, after his marriage at midnight last night to his private secretary. Congressman Meeker, a Republican, had served two terms in the house of representatives repre-sentatives from the Tenth (St. Louis district). dis-trict). He was renominated in the August Au-gust primary and was here in the interest in-terest of his re-election when he became seriously ill. m His marriage at midnight to Mrs. Alice Redmon, his secretary, followed announcement an-nouncement by his physician that he could not recover. He was divorced from his first wife and leaves four children. Congressman Meeker was 40 years of age. The funeral will be held at Attica, Ind., Friday. WASHINGTON, Oct. 16. After receiving receiv-ing news of the death of Representative Meeker of Missouri, the house adjourned this afternoon and Speaker Clark appointed ap-pointed a committee to attend Mr. Meeker's Mee-ker's funeral. |
