The annual election of the Red Cross scheduled for October 23, has been postponed post-poned to November 20. according to Robert Rob-ert J. Shields, manager of the Red Cross, on account of Spanish influenza. The local lo-cal chapter has been made spokesman f6r the state of Utah. Peach pits are needed as bad as ever for the manufacture Of gas protectors and Mr. Shields has made an appeal to the public to continue their contributions. The following Instructions were issued today by Mr. Shields for the guidance of relatives and friends of soldiers at the front who desire to send them Christmas presents. "Coupons will be received FOme time before be-fore November 1 from the soldier or from Washington by the person who is to send the parcel. Only one parcel may be sent to a soldier. When this coupon is received re-ceived prepare your parcel, which must go inside a carton nine by four by three Inches and must not weigh over two pounds fifteen ounces. "After November 1 Jake your parcel and coupon to Red Cross headquarters for inspection. If satisfactory It will be placed In the carton with a certificate of inspection and forwarded to the soldier. Parcels may be forwarded up to November Novem-ber 20. A list of contraband or articles that may not be sent will be announced later." |
