John DengI, whose career as all agent of the German government has been cut short through investigations conducted by Leon Bone, special agent of the department de-partment of justice, will be brought over from Ogden today for internment in the war prison barracks at Fort Douglas. The presidential warrant authorizing his internment in-ternment was received yesterday by the United States marshal. Dengl was first arrested by the Ogden police. It has been proved to the satisfaction of the department of justice that Dengl has been active for several months in recruiting enemy aliens for the German army, and that in pursuit of this work he has been traced through many states. Corres'pondence found among his effects ef-fects establishes the fact that he was working in collusion with renegade Mexicans Mex-icans to organize on army of Germans In Mexico to move, many hundred thousand strong, against the United States. In this work it is believed that he was aided by members of the I. W. W. Investigation In-vestigation developed the fact that the German army to be mobilized secretly in Mexico was to bo t organized in small squads, followed by quick mobilization for invasion against the United States. Otitis and munitions were to be shipped in small quantities from Germany into some port considered friendly to German interests in Mexico. |
