enlarging our school room capacity during the present year though they are well aware of the crying want for more room we shall be obliged to economize econom iza the beet ore can the room we now have it afi especially advisable therefore that pupils in the lower grades should eom mence their attendance with the opening of school as in all probability the schools will be very crowded during second and third terms and possibly the younger children will be obliged to discontinue during the winter months fhe importance of every child who expects to enter and complete a given grade daring the year commencing school the very first morning cannot be toa strongly urged parents who keep their children out of school for one two or three deelse after the opening of school not only do a grave injustice to heir own children but they also retard be progress of those who do commence en time A certificate of promotion to a given grade entitles the holder to ad mireion anio that grade at the beginning of the term and not after the class has moved up the course for a week or a month as the case may be and so pupils entering late in the term may be obliged to drop back into the next lower and repeat work which they have already done or wait until an other class starts at the point where they are entitled to enter AND punctuality educational progress pro aress in tu a consid erable extent commensurate with regu arity and punctuality in attendance fot this reason as well as to assist their children in acquiring the able habata of promptness and devotion to duty parents should insist that their children are regular and enact ual in attendance at school compulsory it is unnecessary to remind parents who have the welfare of their children at heart of the compulsory provisions of the school law it will suffice therefore to simply state that the school law requires the attend ance at some school health permitting ot all children between the age of eight and fourteen years
