| Show lassu appearance of kroyos home dramatic co everybody who attended the amateur performance of proves home dramatic company jagt saturday evening seemed pleased with it the company had chosen for ita first production that ever interesting melo drama the lancashire gaea there was a fair sized house and it would undoubtedly have been larger bad not a cold ediff march wind started up in the evening just before theatre time the first act was rather the some of whom were making their first public appearance on the baarda were evidently a little nervous one member also forgot his lines in one scene which caused confusion the uther four acts went off charmingly and a tray eline theatrical man who was present declared most of the act ing was quite the equal of many travels ine companies the party by the name of jonnson he said has boon on the stage before I 1 could bee he was one of the old school as eoon as he stepped upon the stage it was easily discernibly discern ably and the audience who nearly all knew mr graham from former days greeted his appearance in the second act with generous applause A party by the name of johnson etemad the life of the play tom leborne Oe borne as ned ciaston also carried bis part with tha aae of an old actor there was nothing stiff about him and bis excellent interpretation oi bis part subject of much favorable comment in the more traelic portions of the part mr 0 D OIs enaa robert did exceedingly well he failed however in the more polished part of that gantle many hypocrite and feminine heart mr oison was inclined to be foppish where he should have been polished MH graham surprised as well aa delighted the audience aa y potty he stumbled in the narration of muggings clerk but he otherwise carried out well his difficult part even to the lancashire dialect J M jensen had two parts As kirby he evoked applause in his excellent lancashire dialect As dan bille be was an entire success the leading ladys part ruth kirby was impersonated by misa sadie graham atje lady has a fine stage figure a penetrating voice and seems to live her part rather than act it there waa in her acting that was very pleasing miss estella jacques the other leading lady acted her part a little too much lacking naturalness both young ladies are bitted with fine articulation miss jacques held the audience in breathless suspense while on the peer ia her difficult dying acene it was wall rendered the unaffected way in which mrs catherine barnes said she should like torease tor eafe a heart would hardly that the lady had never been on the stage before her part ws only a short one hut she convinced the audience that she waa capable of taking harder parts in tue future of the minor parts taken by the gentlemen mr duke distinguished him careful actor and cne who would be at home in most characters requiring baudy mr walkers prison scone brought him tame considering si that it was bis first stage ap bearance pe arance mr E gregory took two short parts well and leylond graham had the strong boice of a typical post boy the company ought not to let this first successful production be ita baat in thial connection it would not be amiss to mention the splendid work of the orchestra which has reached euch high attainments attain menta recently there were numerous new pieces heartily applaud i ed last saturday evening |
