Show B V academy library with the prodigious growth of tle the B Y academy during the last few years the school has baa felt most keenly we need of a more extensive library librara arv prominent citizens have from time to timo time contributed valuable collection of books to relieve this pressing need and thus thua the library is growing A most notable example of such public spirit I 1 ia a recent donation by J W N esq of this city of seventy seven bound volumes coumas and a score of volumes in paper cover the collection includes treatises on language science ceJ mathematics and philosophy bokides a lang list of volumes ot choice literature these books give evidence that a scholar his hia selected them and their donation to the academy betrays another characteristic of the scholar viz a desire that other abail share the riches of knowledge contained therein there is no better way of building up a great school thin than by making it the repository tory of tho learning leaming that is stored up in books we suggest to our citizens that they emulate the splendid example of mr next to the man who will give the academy adew thousand dollars for a library fund that man deserves gratitude who will donato donate the books in his library which he will read no more and which therefore will only serve to catch dust dual or at best beat to dresa cress hiis hia library case |
