Show Scopper chimin is Fill II III L. A. Jeffs, Returning From Battle Mountain, Tells of Developments. U. A. Jeffs, prominent Salt T.ake mining min-ing man and engineer, has just returned from an inspection of the Copper Canyon mine, near Battle Mountain, New, the control of which is held by New York capitalists, but in which a number of Salt Uake mining men have interests. Mr. Jeffs said yesterday that he was amazed at both the extent and richness of the deposits and that he regarded the property as another "United Verde Extension," Ex-tension," which leaped from obseruity into fame In a space of three months. Mr. Jeffs said that on the 113-foot level the miners were opening a body of ore sixty feet wide, carrying copper oxide, criscola and native copper. This ore is being shot down and sorted, giving values i ranging from 10 to 14 per cent copper, 1 while on the lower levels a 40-foot ledge of the same character of ore is being developed. de-veloped. The ore bins are filled to their capacity and shipments are being sent out as lap-id lap-id iy as transportation facilities will admit, ad-mit, with more than 1000 tons of this high-grade ore piled on the dump. The property is located nine miles out of Battle Mountain, has its own electric plant, and is under the general management manage-ment of F. Sommer Schmidt. Boston Copper Quotations. J. A.
