Show 10011 CIP 53 DOES DEGREE WORK j Number of Applications for. Membership Received for Action. Salt Ijake uamp Xo. 53, Woodmen of : the World, had a well -attended meeting I last Tuesday evening. The degree -work I was put on and a number of applications ; were read by the clerk for membership. I Neighbor Moore was reported by the sick committee as about to undergo an j operation at the Holy Cross hospital. The funeral of Neighbor Jim Adams's father was held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Sixteenth ward meetine: house. Captain Hedman is petting his .team in fine shape, and the new work will be put on complete at our next regular meeting. There will be no meetings held by camp 53 until January 8 on account of Christmas Christ-mas and New Year's falling on Tuesday this time, bo there will be a big session on the 8th. and every member should attend as it means three weeks' work in ono, and there will be plenty to do. Utah camp Xo. 3:iS held an enjoyable and pleasant meeting last Wednesday. The campaign which has been running for the last four or five months came to an end last week, and while the increase in-crease was not up to the expectation, a substantial increase was made. Next Wednesday there will be a Christmas Christ-mas entertainment for the members and their families, and the committee, E. W. Washburn, Harry Heagren and Jack Williams, Wil-liams, are desirous of seeing a large crowd there. The committee are aiso looking for talent for the evening, so If any of the members have children who would like to take part on the programme they can do so by sending their names to am of the above committee, or to the clerk." It has been the custom of the camp for the past fifteen years to have a Christmas tree and to give toys to all the children, but on account of the present pres-ent conditions which exist, and also upon the plea of the head consul to economize, the Christmas tree and the toy part of the programme has been eliminated, but there will be plenty of entertainment, fruit, nuts, etc., and it Is hoped a large crowd will be on hand. After the entertainment en-tertainment the hall will be cleared and our oichestra will furnish music until 12 o'clock for all who wish to dance. Everything Every-thing on tills evening will be absolutely free. Poseret camp Xo. 406 held n very short business meeting last Thursday evening and surrendered the floor to the ways and means committee. They had invited tiie members and friends to enjoy an evening in dancing and social entertain ment and a large number spent the time pleasantly as guests of the camp until a late hour. The committee has invited the children to come to a Christmas party next Thursday afternoon, when all will be ready to give the "kiddies'' a merry time. For thirty-six years he was enrolled in Kooky Mountain lodge. About thirty years of that time he was an untiring worker in the upbuilding of Pythianism in Utah. Thousands of men knew and loved him for his unpretentious deeds that brought sunshine and gladness.- In lodge circles and by the firesides we will recite his many good deeds and achievements that made men brighter and better. Every Pythian in L'tah joins in sympathetic sympa-thetic bereavement with the family over his loss from our earthly circles. If he had a fault, the December winds have wafted it away, his virtues we write In loving remembrance, consoling ourselves, knowing he carried with him the golden talisman that opened the wicket to the eternal supreme convention. He kept the faith. He made a good fight. Peace be with him. Every Pythian should do special spe-cial work now in practical fraternity. This Friday night members and friends will enjoy a 500 card social given by the i Pvthlan Sisters for relief purposes. 'Calanthe Myrtle lodge Xo. 1 met last ! Monday night with a fair attendance and j visiting brothers. ' We were all sorry to receive the resig-nation resig-nation of our keener of records and seal. Brother Robert Coverdale. He has accepted ac-cepted a lucrative position with the Union Pacific Railway company at Omaha. Brother Blackmer has returned from Idaho to be with us again. V American Yeomen. The Brotherhood of American Yeomen, 1132, met at the Moose hall Friday night and business of importance was transacted. trans-acted. We were grieved to learn, from our lady Rebecca, that Mrs. H. M. Wolfe and her son, Clair, and Mrs. Emmons, the North apartments, were on the sick list. Others were reported as doing nicely and we hope by next Friday night they will all be able to attend the meetings, for we miss every one of them. Next Friday afternoon, December 2S, at 2 p. m., tho Yeoman children will have their Christmas entertainment at the Moose hall. Bring the children and let them have a good time, singing and dancing. An officer reports several of our onco active members present and working for sisters Red Cross unit. Many members attended the impressive obsequies obse-quies for Richard Baker. He had been a member of Rocky Mountain for thirty-six years and an active worker for Pythianism Pythian-ism in all its branches, spending his life in serving humanity, always looking to the brighter side of his fellow- man. .Hermion Pythian Red Cross unit made a successful drive for membership. Some have not signed up yet. They can do so at the regular meeting of the unit Thursday Thurs-day in Commercial club building. All sisters, knights acid families are most cordially invited to visit and see the good work being turned out.
