Show GERMANY IS ASKED FOR SAFE CONDUCT FOR FREDERIK VIII NEW YORK, Feb. 8. The German government gov-ernment has been asked by the Scandinavian Scandi-navian -American line to assure sa fe passage through the recently defined war zone for the steamer Frederik VIII, ori : which Count von Bernstorf f, the former German ambassador, and his party wSl sail for home February 13. This assurance, assur-ance, officials of the line here said today, to-day, is requested in addition to the safe conduct through the blockade zone asked for by the American state department and promised by Great Britain and France. "We have cabled our home office in Copenhagen for instructions," one of the officials said. "Until we do get orders to sail the Frederik VIII and the Hellig Olav, now in port here, will remain at their piers.
