Show ELECTION AT WEST HIGH SCHOOL TODAY Close Contests for Several Important t Offices Are Expected to Develop. At the West high school this morning will be held the primary election for the officers of the Associated Students West for the vear 1116-1917. Much enthusiasm has been shown and a large number of candidates have been nominated. The returns re-turns are expected to be close. Stump speeches were in order at noon yesterday afternoon and most of the nominees nom-inees were1 able to say a few words. This morning, prior to the election, a few more will probably be heard from. As each office has some students who are extremely popular, the outcome appears ap-pears doubtful. Harold Jennings, who has been nominated for the office of president, presi-dent, appears most probable of being eectPf. His success in other offices should fit him well and the students have been clamoring for him. Others who will run for the presidential office are Richard Rich-ard Vette and Ohauncey Craddock. The race for vice president will probably prob-ably be the closest. The nominees are Lucy Budd. Thalia Foffman, Athene Beckwith and Marguerite Lawson. For secretary, Riter Ridges. Nettie Shurtliff and Caroline Johnson will run. Renwick McNiece. who is holding the ofliee of treasurer in the Associated Students Stu-dents West at present and who has been the treasurer in the High School Athletic association for a number of years, will prona my una sou ib un iuiijbuuuii when he runs against David Bruce Hill and C. S. Springer. Both of the latter are extremely popular with the students, while McNle'co has not lost any of his popularity. |
