Show FIELD SECRETARY IS VISITING SALT LAKE Abbie J. Upham of Woman's Home Mis- sion Department of Presbyterian Church Delivers Address. Miss Abbie J. Upham. field secretary of tiie woman's home mission department of the Presbyterian church, with headquarters head-quarters in New York, spent yesterday in Salt Lake in the course of her annual visit to the western states. Miss Upham reported re-ported universal progress in the work of home missions in the addresses she made here yesterday. In the morning Miss UphaVn spoke before be-fore the Sunday school of the First Presbyterian Pres-byterian church and to the congregation of the Westminster church. In the afternoon after-noon she was the guest of the Y. W. C. A. and outlined the needs and methods meth-ods of procedure of the board of home missions. The women of the Third Presbyterian church heard Miss Upham in the evening, as did 'the Christian .Endea vor of the First church. Miss Upham leaves today to visit congregations in southern Utah. In the course of her work a s secretary Miss Upham visits yearly more than 2000 cities. This year tiie work has been more than usually successful. The fields covered cov-ered by the board of home missions Include In-clude immigration, schools and mountaineers moun-taineers in different parts of tiie cotm-trv. cotm-trv. It was the various needs of the work in' these fields and the methods in which the work in conducted that provided themes for Miss Upham before her Salt Lake audiences. |
