Ten American students at Oxford university, univer-sity, eight of whom arc Rhodes scholars, schol-ars, have volunteered for service with ! the American comuiissiou for the relief i of Belgium. They will be sent to Bel-: Bel-: gium tomorrow to assist Captain W. F. i Luccy in the distribution of food. Among the student volunteers aro 15. F. Holmann, from Leland Stanford university; B. Kittredge, from the University Uni-versity of California; C. G. Bowden of St. Louis; O. O. Lodermilk of Wilcox, Ariz.: R. H. Simpson of Indianapolis: D. T. Nelson of Mayvillc, N. D.; W. V. Stratton of Halt Lake City, and C F. Spaulding of Los Angeles. W. Warren Stratton is the son of Dt. Grace Stratton-Airey of this city, and a Rhodes scholar from Utah, lie graduated from the Salt Lake high si-hool in 1909 and from the University of Utah in 1913. lie was awarded a Rhodes scholarship two years ago aud is now in his eecond year at Oxford. Mr. Stratton was a member of the high school cadet battalion aud later of the national guard of Utah. |
