"With, the lessees breaking ore and storing it for shipment, tho physical condition con-dition of the Nevada Anaconda Copper company's property, located twelve miles north of Caiiin, New, on an air line, is excellent, according to Harlow S. Burch of Murray, one of the principal owners of the property. Mr. Burch Is considering consider-ing tentative plans of returning to the property In the near future. The property is reached by a wagon road which at present covers twenty-two miles in length from Carlln. This road is to be considerably reduced In distance, according to the county authorities. There are nine claims located on Swailes mountain. The ore has been encountered In a contact of the vein and lies between the lime and the quartz! te the vein rilling being composed of lime and porphyry, with a granite footwall and a quart zite hanging wall. The values are in silver, lead and copper. The main vein in known as the Monitor, which has been opened up on four of the claims, known as the Monitor No. 5, Monitor No. 1, Monitor No. 8 and Monitor No. 4. On the Monitor No. 4 the Her-rard Her-rard tunnel has been driven ISO feet, with a crosscut ninety-six feet in length, the tunnel tapping the vein at a depth of 125 feet. The vein has a northerly and southerly south-erly direction, with a dip of about 45 degrees de-grees to the west. The Eisman tunnel has been driven in HO feet on the Monitor No. 3 and cuts tho vein at the deepest point at seventy feet. The Jack Yore tunnel was Btarted forty-five- feer. lower down the hill and driven in 300 feet. Two upraises connecting connect-ing it with the Elsmann tunnel were driven on the ore and a stupe was opened up, forty-five by 100 feet, from which was shipped a lead-silver carbonate ore. The lessees are operating on the property prop-erty at present and saving the lead-silver ore for shipment. They are sorting it up to a grade of about $35 to the ton. They have taken sufficient supplies to the camp for the winter months and will sink a fifty-foot winze on the ore at about llfty feet from the portal of the Yore tunnel. |
