Show CANADA OFFERS THOUSANDS OF MEN TO ENGLAND OTTAWA Ont Aug 1 A formal offer of military contingents was cabled to England today by tha Ca nad an government. An emenency meeting of the cabinet was presided OTer by Premier Borden who returned to Ottawa by special train to meet his associates and deal with the situation Canada finds herself in as tie result of the European war Premier Borden informed his associates asso-ciates that he "had received word that the Duke of Connaught was hurrying back from the west to give his per sonal attention to the critical affairs which are expected to develop at Ottawa. Infantry cav airy and artillery will be included is any force sent forward and it would number 20 000 if transportation could be speedily obtained for that number It is estimated that within two weeks it would be possible to dispatch 10 000 efficient soldiers and within three months this number could be increased to 50 000 Offers for foreign service continued to arrive from the commandants of militia corps throughout the dominion.
