Show lis sudden death OF HIS LIFE the many official positions filled by the departed honored and respected expression of sympathy and regrets were heard on ayery side last evening when it was learned that county collector win H brown had died at a quarter to nine at his residence in this city mr brown had an attack of la grippa several months aso and his health has not been good bince that time but ha has been able to attend to ane duties of BIS occa ana was at saturday yesterday morning he went out for a ride aud in stooping down tu drin from a boothe felt a rush of biond to his head and his eye eight was suddenly so that he could not see for baine time when he returned to his homo doctor shores was summoned and did all he could to mr brown he suffered more or less pain during the day but did not retire to hs led till a short time before his death when doctor pike was intending to administer a hypodermic injection to relieve him from the pain he was suffering before this was done mr brown who was sitting on the faida of the bed laid down an expired the immediate causa of big death was heart failure wm II 11 brown was born at council iowa on the alth of april 1818 his parents were george brown and elizabeth mills the aged mother of mr brown ia still aliva his father died in 1875 they emigrated frum edeland to nauvoo in 1842 in 1852 mr brown came with his parents to where he has resided since except one year spent on a mission to the southern portion of the territory he crossed the plains after immigrants when a boy 16 anais of age and has taken an ac tiye part in the indian troubles incident to the settlement of utah on the ath of October mcbrown Mr Brown was married to louisa J howe who with echt children survive kneir beloved husband and father the oldest child is a son aged about twenty years and the youngest a girl about five years old mr waa a man of good judgment in practical affairs and has been a student of political and lesal matters since his youth he haa held many positions of trust and responsibility and has to tia public duties in a manner that has proven satisfactory to bis constituents he has been a member of tha bove city council and held the office of justice ot the peace for many terms he has also served as a memush of the agricultural college board in 1884 he was appointed deputy assessor and collector of biah county by A 0 jr thia position he continued to oe cupy till when he was appointed by the county court to fill smoot jr at the succeeding county election he was elected assessor aad collector and when the office as divided in and an assessor and collector elected mr brown was elected collector which office together with that of precinct ju tice of the peace he heid ai the time of his demise mr brown has lived a busy useful life and his death will be mourned by many friends tha territory the sympathy cf all who were acquainted with mr brown sues out to his bereaved family elioe has bean called away ii the prime of life when many yeara 0 usefulness and 18 eforo him mr brown ws a faithful latten day saint and departed strong in the faith of the godsoe he waa an democrat and he will be missed by chope of bial political faith in this chanty tha vicea will be held tomorrow tuesday in the tabernacle at 10 |
