Show JAPANESE FORCES STILLViCTDRIDUS They Gain Another Big Advantage Ad-vantage Over Germans in Kiaochow. TOKIO, Sept. 29. An official announcement an-nouncement today concerning the progress prog-ress of events in Kiaochow says: Japanese forces during the day and night of September 27 drove the enemy in the direction of Tsing- tau. The Japanese casualties were 150. The German lossos are not known, but fifty men and four machine guns were captured. This action, which was speedier than anticipated, has accelerated the general attack. The fleet has attacked the litis fort, effectively aided by the army. A British, warship joined with the Japanese warship in the bombardment bombard-ment September 26 of tho two Tsingtau forts. One of the forts replied, but without effect. The results of bombardment arc unknown, un-known, but a building, believed to be a barracks, was demolished and the defense works were damaged. Th.e work of mine-sweeping continues con-tinues successfully, despite the fire of the defenders on shore. One Japanese boat was hit and two men were wounded. Hydro-aeroplanes have been invaluable in-valuable in reconnoitcring and one is believed to have demolished a portion of the defense works with a bomb. Germans Driven liack. FEKIN, Sept. 29. The Germans in Kiaochow have evacuated the Waldcrsee line of defense before an overwhelming force of the enemy. Tsingtau is now completely invested. The German losses were small. This information is contained in a diepatch received here from a German source at Tsi-Xan, Shantung, which evidently evi-dently is a wireless communication from Tsingtau. It adds that the Japanese armored cruiser squadron bombarded Tsingtau Monday without doing any damage. Japanese official rpports corroborate the lore-going and explain that the engagement en-gagement occurred Monday morning. .' f (Continued on Page Jour.)
