N Rasm lsseu Ugden Jf On the recommendation of a spe lal committee and without alteration the convention in its Uogfiag session adopted resolutions endorsing- the work of the horticultural eomm smon and pledging M the support of the society in the work of the committee. If the investigations of the commission indicate that such is necessary the association is pledged to rail a meeting of aD fruit growers of the state early in 1916. The society by resolution also went on record as favor log a change in the present horticultural inspection system bv placing it entirely under state eontrol and thus removing it from the jonadi tion of the 'various boards of countv commission era. Cooperation Favored v The proposal to enter into a eo-op- erative alliance with, the eannera and sugar manufacturers of the state for the special purpose of improving the horti eutural industry received more con mderation from the society s members todav in the appointment of Ogden mem bers of a special committee to confer 7 with the other interests. The principal addresses delivered at today s sessions of the convention were by "William M Roylanee of Provo. Or E. D Ball of the Utah Agricultural eol lege college and Professor E. H. Smart of Provo While admitting that the past few years certainly tad been discouraging dis-couraging to the orehardists of Utah, i Mr Koylance eau boned f&e fnnt grow era against being roof eager to dig qp their trees. He took the view that the situation could scarcely become much worse and that a better day sorely would dawn for the fruit growers. The interest manifested by the sugar com Jpanies in the frurt industry was looked upon by the speaker as meaning more to the growers than they really thought. Dr Ball took the view that more optimism op-timism is needed in connection with the fruit industry Good Prospects Ahead The Agricultural college instructor did not complete his address until afternoon aft-ernoon and the remainder of the ses sion until ths election at officers and other business "was taken, up by Pro- feasor Smart, who discussed the fruit market question.
