MINE New Sidetrack Means Large Saving in Handling of Ore Shipments The teams that tave been used In hauUng the ore from the Chief Consol dated mine to the railroad have been taken off and the ore is now feeing sent from the mine over the new sidetrack which has been completed from the Den ver & Rio Grande 3 main Tintic branch. The new sidetrack is about three qoar ters of a mile in length and will not only mean a savins in the handling of the Chiefs big output of ore but in the transfeni g of coal and timber to the mine. The cost of hauling the mines output or ore to the railroad was not great, the haul being a short one, but the property is sending out such a large amount of ore that a few cents clipped from the cost of handling each ton will mean a substantial sum of money In the course of a 3 ear says the Eureka Reporter Since the railroad companv commenced the construction of this switch the min Ing company has started putting up ap experimental mill which. If placed In sue cessfui operatior will mean considerable business for the railroad company as the ore from the mine will have to be hauled oer the new switch to the mill Splendid progress is being made in the construction of the experimental mill for the treatment of the ore from the Chief Consolidated mine and it Is thought that the plant will be ready to go Into com mission within the next three or four weeks The plant Is being erected at the expense of a company that has been organized for that purpose and conse quently It ts not costing the mining com pany anything The tests that were made In Denver where the new process of milling was first tried out. Indicate that the mill will successfully treat the low grade ore from the Chief Consolidated and other Tintic properties The men who are put t ng their money Into tl e new enter prise are thoroughly satisfied that much of the Tintic ore can be 1 andled by their new system of milling and if the plant at the Chief Consolidated mine makes satisfactory savings no time will be lost in putt ng up a larger custom mill here In Tintic The plant now being constructed will have a capacity of 1 00 tons a day and the cost of tl e mill will probab an ou to about $40 000 Some of the men who are on p o M n the Lehl Tintic property in No TIntio district were in town u week and bring encouraging po f this se tion.
