Show IFREMCH STEAMSHIP SUNK Blf SUBMARINE All on Board Lost; Italian Vessel Sent Down; Many Are Missing. LONDON, Xov, H. Alt on board were lost, it is believed, when the French steamship St. Malo of i?I3 tons was sunk by a German submarine near the island of Guernsey in the English channel chan-nel today. Twelve bodies have been washed up on the shores of Guernsey. Among the other victims of the submarine sub-marine war were the Xorweg-ian steamship steam-ship Waaeana of 4969 tons, the crew of j which was saved, and .the Italian steamship steam-ship Bosnia of 2561 tons. Of the latter's crew two boatloads of survivors have been picked up. Reports from Bordeaux state that the Spanish steamship Bernabe of 22AS tons, registered at Bilbao, has been lost. Ten of the crew of twenty-four are missing. The dispatch does not state how she met her fate. Three of these craft have been landed,. 'but the fate of the occupants of. the fourth boat is not known. The Bosnia was of 2561 tons gross and was built in 1898. She was 307 feet long, thirty -nine feet beam and twenty-five feet deep. The home port of the Bosnia was Venice and she was owned by the Societa Xazionale di Serviza Marittlma of : Rome, j |
