The British oil steamer San Melito, lO.lfiO tons, owned by the Eagle Oil Transportation company, Ltd.. of London, was shelled by a submarine sub-marine for forty-five minutes. The bridge was struck, but the steamer munaged to escape.. so mention of loss or life is made. The Glasgow steamer Thelma. 1002 tons. , from Tiellsbnig lor Gothenburg, was chased by a German ttorpedo boat in Swedish territorial waters. A Swedish torpedo boat Assisted the Thelina in forc-inir forc-inir the German vessel to abandon the chape.
