Show EDUCATION WEEK There ai; not enough weeks in the year to allow one week", national, state or local, for every good cause. But last "week" was one in whose, observance, as it was estimated by its sponsors, ten million participated. It was American Education Week and was sponsored jointly by the National Education association, the American Legion, the United States Office of Education and the National Congress of Parents and Teachers. The chief aim was to encourage the visiting of the schools by parents and other adult citizens and their taking part in the special school exercises. Within the past week or two and including this week Parent-Teacher associations of Highland J5oy, Copperficld, Copperton and Bingham Central and high school associations have met for organization and plans. , Schools are centers of democracy as such are the bright-, est spots in any city or town. Even a glimpse of what goe? j on in them will strengthen the hope of which President Roosevelt speaks in his Education Week message the hope that "out of our schools may come a generation which can persuade a bleeding world to supplant force with reason-" We should all take note of this special opportunity to see our schools and prepare to take advantage of it. |
