The work done for 1911 had chiefly to do jih drifts and upraises from the main shaft of the mine, and the property responded very nicely to all the work: performed. Ore was encountered 'and worked In almost continuously, out of which some very (Rood shipping oio was selected, ami a . larjro amount of what might be termed good milling ore. The io.-ation of the Golden Hoof be-inc be-inc about five rnlleR north of the famous limn Silver mine, nea.r Krisro. In Beaver eounty. Utah, and from the fact that .so ina.n of the mines in that vicinity are producers of silver ores it may be surprising to mans to learn that the .ores of the Golden Reef mine oarr.v cold and lead Three cars of cue which have hem shipped contained values of about ?L'o in cold per ton and from I". to 20 per cent lead. The company owns 22 claims and the development work upon the croup has been going on steadily ror" about ten years; hut owing to the fact that, prac-in. prac-in. ill-, all of thfl monev for development develop-ment vork had to be raised by assessments assess-ments upon the stock, the work there-t there-t fore has been a. trifle slow. Rut for the amount of money expended, it is safi to say that more genuine work has been Hone upon the Golden Reef properly prop-erly than upon any other property with like expenditure-Thorp expenditure-Thorp Is a tunnel driven in from the fool "f the hill westerly In the direction of the upper vein a distance of over lsnri feet. Which, with the addition of some 210 or $00 feet . will tap the upper vein at a depth of about 6no feet. At the mouth of this tunnel the lower vein ha- been cross cut. showing a mineralization miner-alization of about SO feet, out of which some very rich ore has been taken A .shaft, lias been sunk and Is now being worker) at the mouth of the tunnel on I this lower vein which now has a depth of 22B fer-l, from which shaft considerable consid-erable drlftincr. has been done. In almost al-most . very instance ore has been cn- ount ered. fin the ioth day of Inst December Wlljard Pehrson and j. H Bricks on obtained ob-tained a three years' lease upon the Golden Reef holdings, wbi.'h lease was ratified by the stockholders i- the terms of which they acrec to perform the annual assessment work required and to pay the. company 15 per cent royalty of the pot values of all ores extra. 'ted from th property, In audition to i his they have a similar lease from Charles C Chrfstensen, of Qlslnpre, on his ej?o Lily claim, which joins the Golden Roof group of hoiriinKs and on which a very good showing of ore appears from the amount of work done. it is the Intentloji of the lessors to sink the main shaft down to a depth of at least WO feet, a.t which depth there is Koi'd reason to h.Iie-.'e that the ore will be found more concentrated than It Is above. Work will aiso progress in the lunnH with a view of tapping the upper vein a.v soon as possible. With good. Systematic development work carried car-ried on. the-.-e is every reason to believe that ere lonp; the Golden Reef mine will he ope of the la-oteBt producers in Beaver county. |
