Show CELEBRATE THEIR GOLDEN WEDDING President and Mrs. C. AV. Penrose Pen-rose Entertain Descendants and Friends. Charles W. Penrose, member of Ihu first presidency of the Mormon church, and -Mrs. Lii.io Penrose, last night celebrated cel-ebrated tho fiftieth anniversary of their wedding, which took place on January 33, 3803. Tho celebration, which began be-gan at the home of a daughter, Mrs. C. L. Whitney, at 230 Ninth "East street, and 'wns brought to a close at the homo of President Penroso, at 222 Ninth 3in8l; streot, wns essentially a family affair aud was most enjoyable. The celebration was attended by children, grandchildren and a fow great-grandchildren, together with, a numbor ot closo personal friends, of tho happy couplo. Tho programme was varied and comprised com-prised living pictures, portrn3,ed by grandchildren, music, both vocal and instrumental, recitations, etc. A happy little skotch also was prosonted tiy several of fho children of President and Mrs. Penrose and provod most enjoy en-joy able. Thoro wore moro than fifty of tho descendants presout aud nnmorous gifts wcro presented to President and Mrs. Penroao, including a haudsomo gold watch and chain to Mm Ponrose. An addod feature of Interest to the celebration wis tho fact that Pros!, dent Ponro8e will celebrate his eighty-first eighty-first birthday on Fo'burary 4, and' he was felicitated upon having passed the four-score mark in such a "splendid slate of health and with such abundant promise of many more years of usefulness. use-fulness. i |
