Senator Sutherland Suth-erland Is trying, through the state department, de-partment, to secure the dlschargo from tho French military service of Joseph Nougler of San Rafael, Utah, formerly postmaster at that place. Nougler. a native na-tive of France. Ik a naturalized citizen of tho United States and lived for some years In Utah, llecently he returned to France for a temporary visit and Immediately Imme-diately was Impressed Into the service of the French army to serve tho time required re-quired by law of French citizens. Tho stato department has Informed Senator Sutherland that the French law does not exempt naturalized cltlzons of a foreign country from military servlcs unless thoy first obtain tho permission of the French governmont to become naturalized' citizens citi-zens of such country.
