quite a place many good farms are under cultivation and crops look well the railroad from doming southward is in the process of construction and it is asserted by the promoters that it will reach within tw enty miles of us the beason the grading is all being done by our people and it makes money more easy among us than it otherwise would be A now catholic church is in process of construction at casas grandes about five gilbs from tho ame which is rather a new thing under the sun in these parts since the mother church has been shorn of its temporal power usually the churches seem in a neglected and rather dilapidated condition the badri padri or priest in charge of this district is a tenor a young man of great energy and ability and withal a rather pleasant fellow president moses thatcher has lately purchased a nice tract of timber land miles from here and will boon move his saw mill sli ingle mill and blainer there and the prospect is that it will greatly cheapen the cost of building material a thing much leedel at present as many people are now here ready to build as ast as material can bs procured in all the settlements good schools are running the entire school year with a large attendance and regular graduates from the B Y academy are the teachers so people do not need to be afraid that by settling here they will be beyond the bounds of civilization and without facilities for their children our sunday schools are also filled to overflowing with as fine looking and intelligent children as can be found anywhere we lovo the country and people here and in turn are loved and ell treated by them laws and institutions of tho country are good and aro truly honored aud observed by both rulers and people with very little that flavors of oppressing one class of the community in order to confer favors upon another beef battlo are in good demand the market being at the city of mexico and other large cities in the south the Cora litos company whose ranch joins us on the north is shipping large numbers there was an attempt by some of our people to ship some from the large herds about the colony of diaz but tho quality of the ranga in that vicinity is 0 o inferior that the project had to bo abandoned in consequence of the poor condition of tha cattle A small woolen factory will be put up aliis season at the colony of jarez to work up as far as possible tho wool crop of alie vicinity which is very good the sheep industry indu etry is beginning to create considerable attention prices are good and ich good le turns are certain along the eastern slope of the seirra madre range for hundreds of miles southward are many fine locations for settlements the country is dut sparely settled nd land is cheap and the peo ale are law abiding and kind the country is fairly well watered and timber in the mountains to the westward is abundant this is a fine opportunity for the young and hardy of people to make good homes and arow up with the country to
