iron production of which owing to strikes heavy rail rates and a demand has been curtailed tons weekly a compared with the output three months ago at western centers the late revival in the demand continues and there is increased strength t philadelphia and new york no advance appears likely in the near u ture after the enormous output of 1890 and with prospect of anly moderate railway extension steel rails are firmer now that the mill which refused to combine on prices has been consolidated with its principal competitor but the anthracite coal combination to restrict output is one which does not restrict as more tones had been minded and shipped by march 7 1891 than in a lika portion of 1890 the industrial situation is boet especially in coal mining though fewer miners idle than last week the coke strike is not ex pecked to continue long as iron producers rather enjoy its effect now that demand id slack the building trade outlook is less favorable at chicago philadelphia kansas city reports a movement in wholesale esafe line while omaha merchants are evidently cautious to prevent overstocking over stocking by their customers hog products have been in active request probable total of wheat in farmers hands two weeks ago of about bushels this points to smaller stocks of visible and bush el than on march 1 in any of the proceeding seven years it is also cal that only bushels of wheat remained for export and reserves both coasts on march 1 after allowing bushels for home requirements to july 1 next weather conditions are against dry goods trade at the east the the shorts owing to restricted strict ed movement and probably decrease in acreage this year caused by low prices exports of wheat baye fallen off on the pacific coast but are larger iu the aggregate bushels wheat and flour as wheat both coasts against bushels exported in the like ipek last year shipments from united states ports onla from jelv 1 to march 12 equal against in a like hare of 1889 90 biere is a demand for pacific coast from the west coast of south america and from australia but no tonnage is available at san francisco where wheat is now firm at per bushel the foreign demand present aej expected with good home request backed by testie bony as to reduced home supplies have put up wheat and corn ac per bushel each and trading in both cereals at new york has been heavy that section 8 of an act entitled an act to repeal timber culture laws and lor other purposes approved march third eighteen hundred and ninety one be and the same is hereby amended so as to read as follows SEC 8 that suits by the united states to vacate and annul any patent heretofore issei shall only be brought within five years from the passage of this act and lo 10 vacate and annul patents hereafter
