The final evi-deuce evi-deuce in the sensational divorce, action of Sirs. Anna C. Coleman against Albert Al-bert C. Coleman, together with the defendant's de-fendant's counter-claim, was not taken until a late hour this afternoon after which Judge J. A. Howell took the case under advisement. Sevoral witnesses i or the plaintiff, including Mrs. Coleman Cole-man licrficlt, testified in rebuttal today and there was a partial review of the evidence brought out in the carlv stages of Iho trial. The testimony in robuttnl largely concerned the alleged wrongdoing of Mrs. Coleman and R .1. Utahart. the climax of which was thoir arrest at a rooming house by SorgeanL II. C. Peterson Pe-terson on the night oi September 28, Both Mrs. Colemau and Utahart declared de-clared on the witness stand today that their relations had never been other than proper. Being anxious that Utahart Uta-hart remain ni tho city until after the divorce trial, bo that lie could aid her in (lcrendiiig herself against tho accusations accu-sations of her husband, Mrs. Colcmun tpstuicd that she had summoned Utahart Uta-hart to talk over the . matter. It was during this alleged conversation, conversa-tion, according to both witnesses, that Coleman and tho officer entored tho room and placed them under arrest. uuiuart. was released on $100 bond and Mrs. Coleman was allowed her liberty on her own recognizance. Utahart testified tes-tified that he had talked the matter over with tho woman's husband and assured him that thoro was nothing improper im-proper going on at that or any other time. Utahart. told the husband that if he over attempted to use a gun on hi in ho would certainly take it away from him. "With regard to the alleged blackmail-! ing scheme in which Mrs. Nellie Fickes and Patrolman Jerry Kellihor testified yesterday. Mrs. Coleman declared today to-day that she had not been a party to tho arrangement. During her testimony testi-mony yesterday Mrs, Fickes sought to exonerate Coleman and implicate tho plaintiff, Mrs. Coleman. Tho divorce action has received the attention of Judge Howell in tho' Second district court for the past several days. |
