Show "U" FRESHMEN TO PRACTICE IN SECRET Not satisfied with the already flattering prospects for a championship football eleven tit the university this year, Coach Bennion is adopting new measures to enhance en-hance the ultimate chances of the crimson and silver crow. Tnatead of allowing tho freshmen to practice on tho same field with the varsity men, as has always been tho case In the past, Bennion hns sent Coach Olesen and his men to the flat between be-tween Ihe campus and Fort Douglas, where they arc expected to work Just as hard and just as secretly In preparation for their scrimmage work with the varsity var-sity as though they represented another conference school. This will no doubt have a good effect. In the past, both teams have known the plays and the signals sig-nals of the other team so that the men rocolved no practice In divining plays. This year, though, the plays of both the freshmen and tho varsity will bo unknown un-known to each other and the scrimmage work will be In the form of real games. Again, the freshles should be strong enough this year under the tutelage of Olesen to make formidable opponents for the first eleven. Yesterday was tho second day of scrim -mage work among the teams composed of varsity men. The sn,uad was divided and for two hours the players went after each other hammer ami tones. Bennion Is spending considerable tlmo at present trying to develop a kicker. Fitzpalrlck, Dez Bennion and Titus nrc Hkolv looking punters, and ntzpatrlck and Hamilton arc both doing well with the drops. |
