Show thief and forger A twenty dollar check on the thatcher brothers bank of logan dated march 23 1891 was forwarded by james E hart of bloomington idaho to eugene S hart who has been attending school in this city mr eugene S hart did not receive the money which he biad expected and wrote home to that effect whereupon a duplicate check was forwarded to him and the bank at logan was notified not to honor the original check sometime in the early part ot may a stranger entered Chip mana store in american fork and purchased a pair of cuffs he presented in payment a twenty dollar check on the logan bank the clerk accepted the check and gave the stranger his change mr chip man sent the check with other checks and money to the deseret national bank at salt lake to be credited to his account after corresponding with the logan bank the deseret national bank notified mr chipman that the logan check had been itis supposed eup posed this the original check was in some manner stolen from the mails it is indo raed by eugene S hart ed merrill and frank bear the first in dor is a forgery and it is supposed the other two endorsements indorsements indor are also forgeries for garies mr hart states that he knows no person bearing the name of merrill or bear the matter has been placed ia the bands of sheriff fowler but as the clerk who received the check does not remember the identity of the stranger who paused it and as so much time has elapsed the detection of the thief and forger is very improbable |
