Rice, president of the Young Men's Christian association, has a warm spot in tho heart of every member mem-ber was well proved Friday evening. A few days ago some of tho younger members, mem-bers, hearing that he would probably be absent from the city for a year, sot to work to raise In small sums a little fund to present him a token of their remembrance. remem-brance. It was ready last evening and they accordingly ac-cordingly telephoned him, asking that ho come to start one of the races which they were running with the associations In tho largo cities of America. When he arrived Stephen Carman, president of the students' council, made a neat little speech and presented their president with an especially made ring, bearing the association's as-sociation's emblem In enamel with the association's as-sociation's colors, orange and black, traced on cither side. Mr. Rice responded in a very kindly vein, expressing his great appreciation of the thbughtfulness of tho younger members In whom he has always taken the greatest interest. |
