Show DEMOCRATS DENOUNCE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS The provcrnor, the county commissioners commission-ers and the sheriff wcro roundly denounced de-nounced at a rouslne Democratic rally on Wednesday night. The speakers at tho rally declared that It was presumptuous presump-tuous on tho part of the governor of the stale to attempt lo assist In the policing- of Salt Lake City without first having been requested so to do bv the mayor of Salt Iakc. They held that It was outrageous on the part of tho county commissioners to take tho money paid by tho county commissioners to pay deputy sheriffs to bo used for political purpose's In Salt Lake City. The speakers declared that tho county commissioners, Instead of squandering $105 a day for deputy sheriffs to act as political workers, should have used this money lo repair the roads and bridges in Salt Lake county, where it was sorely needed. There was a largo gathering at the rally, and the audience by Its enthusiasm and applause showed that It was heartily in accord with the sentiments expressed by the speakers. Those who spoko at tho meeting were Ray Van Colt, John P. Tobin, Frank C. Moylo and Bishop YV. B. Innes of Draper. Tho speakers also spoke on prohibition and condemned the action of the last state legislature in ignoring the pctl- tions asking for state-wide prohibition. |
