Show SCHOOL BOARD ISSUES NOTICE TO TAXPAYERS Special to Tho Tribune. MURRAY. Jan. 29 The board of education edu-cation lias Issued a circular letter to the taxpayers of Murray, appealing to them for support In the election, to be held February 16. to bond the city for S3G.000 to erect two school buildings. The letter sets forth the, condition of the schools at present, which Is anything any-thing but favorable to tho growth and development of the children, compared with conditions that should exist. Teachers Teach-ers have from ten to fifteen more children chil-dren In the lower grades than they should have to obtain the best results, according accord-ing to demonstrations made In larger cities, and nt the opening of another season sea-son conditions will be still worse. Financially Finan-cially the city Is as well. If not hotter, prepared than any city In tho state. Tho bonded Indebtedness of the city is $20,000. drawing Interest at r. per cent. Against this there Is a sinking fund of fl.000, drawing within a small fraction the same Interest, so that the actual Indebtedness Is but ?5000, which will bo canceled In another year. The two proposed buildings would make the school conditions Ideal. Slnco the Incorporation of Murray into a cltv of tho second class, tho board of education has worked unceasingly tor the highest educational standards, and the records of tho schools are pointed to with pride. |
