Show SAYS STEEL CORPORATION VIOLATES ANTI-TRUST LAW INDIANAPOLIS. March 30. The case of the American Federation against the United States steel corporation was presented pre-sented to Governor Marshall by Samuel Gompers, president, and his counsel, E- G. Ballard of Gary, Ind,. who were attended In the governor's office by a score of officers of national trades unions. Attempt will be made lo show to tho governor that the steel company is violating vio-lating tho anti-trust laws and that in Us plants In Indianapolis several statutes arc disregarded. It Is hoped to bring the governor to direct a prosecution against tho company. A brief will be tiled with tho governor by E. S. Ballard of Gary. Ind.. attorney for the union of Iron. Steel and Tin Workers, arguing that tho steel company com-pany which has declared an "open shop," Is operating Its plants In Indiana In violation of thu laws governing corporations cor-porations and that It Is an Illegal "trust." P. J. McArdle, national president of tho Iron. Steel and Tin Workers' union, was advised by tho governor to send to him the union's attorney at Elwood. where, Mr. McArdle declared, striking tin workers were intimidated by strikebreakers strikebreak-ers Imported from other states upon whom police power hns been conferred by the local authorities at the solicitation solicita-tion of the "steel trust." |
